    Living spaces

The living area comprises a long open gallery and a posh living room, with three ancient crystal chandeliers adorning the spaces. Of two small sitting areas, one faces a gas fireplace, wonderful for cozying up on cold Umbrian winter nights. The open space may also be used for a table that accommodates 14-16 guests. The posh living room has a phenomenal view of the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Adorned with antique maps and prints, and with a television, it is perfect for relaxing. It also has a full bar. The couches and chairs are ideal for wine and appetizers before dinner. A terrace on the top floor has breathtaking views of the Umbria looking towards Tuscany. It has dining or cocktail seating for four people, as well as a cocktail sink.

Dedicated work space allows for quiet contemplation, conference calls, and focused work. Near the work space is a full bath. The underground cantinas offer archaeological interest in the areas where our ancestors stored wine and oil, well suited to a wine tasting or dinner event.

    Kitchen

The fully equipped kitchen is adorned with traditional terracotta tiles, wood beams, a fairytale arched window, and an elegant glass table that can seat 6 or expand to seat 8-10. Gorgeous travertine countertops and all modern appliances. The kitchen features both an electric oven and gas cooking range, but if you prefer we have a beautiful wood fireplace where you can actually grill your meats indoors in the winter as the Italians do!

Charming illuminated niches indicate the ancient history of this house.

    Bedrooms

Three bedrooms appointed with both antique and modern furnishings, each with ensuite bath. More historic chandeliers flourish in the bedrooms and surrounding hallways. Bedding is the highest quality Egyptian cotton, with designer bedspreads including Missoni.

Two bedrooms each have a king sized bed plus two single beds. A third bedroom has a queen size bed and a small balcony with a view of the countryside scenery. There are beds for 10 people in the three bedrooms.

    Baths

Each of the three bedrooms has its own luxurious ensuite bath. One features a bathtub and separate rain shower, the other baths each have a rain shower. Reviews

“A hidden gem in a small village surrounded by the inspirational Umbrian countryside. This beautiful [house/terrace] over several levels has amazing views and is both cosy and luxurious. It speaks of a bygone era and has been restored to welcome you and your friends such that you never want to leave. Located between Florence and Rome in the village of Ficulle you are surrounded by rolling hills, wonderful restaurants, wineries and fragrant walking trails. Orvietto is an amazing historical fortified town nearby with cobblestone streets, a breathtaking cathedral (duomo), bespoke shops and history dating back to etruscan times. Explore Ficulle with local artisans producing Olive Oil, to original grape crushing for wine, to truffle tours and meet the local potter and see how he brings clay to life.

This is an experience not to be missed.”

“The town – Ficulle is a hidden Italian gem.  Having less tourists allows you to experience real Italian culture and hospitality.  Beautiful architecture, incredible views, delicious food and a wonderful winery. The townhouse – Experience amazing historic architecture with all the modern conveniences.

This place is truly 5 stars. Incredible views, very spacious and close enough to walk anywhere in town.”

Ficulle is an Umbrian gem – and this home in its very center was uniquely magnificent experience for us. Absolutely no detail has been overlooked in the restoration and renovation of this centuries-old structure. From the glass-bottomed entrance and its view of the mysterious crypt below, to the rooftop terrace and its soaring views of the bucolic Italian landscape, we will never forget our stay here.

Every room offers special elements of architectural preservation, and the amenities of lighting, plumbing, bedding and so on are all first-class. The market’s just across the cobbled lane, and there’s a baker next door – we never wanted to leave Ficulle, despite the allure of Rome being only an hour away! We’re grateful for the time we have spent here.
