Day 1 Post 1, 75% Umbria, 25% Tuscany

Kicking off this series! Letโ€™s go!!!!
We intended to spend 3-4 days diving deeper into little Umbrian towns, and thatโ€™s just what we did, with the small but significant exception of a quick trip across the border to Cortona.๐ŸŒž

Why Cortona? Not for Frances Mayes or her Tuscan Sun book, but because for years we have heard of the magic of the Virtuoso resort hotel Il Falconiere.โœจโœจ

We also had a goal to seek out sconces for our entry hall at some antique store, having found nothing for months in our corner of Umbria
We headed north towards Cortona and stopped off at an antique store near chiusi Chianciano, but found no sconces.๐Ÿค”
We ate a piadina on the way, northern Italian folded sandwich, and arrived around 3pm at the Falconiere.๐ŸŽŠ
The Relais (hotel) is elegant and authentic, not over the top or ostentatious like so many other hotels.
We were upgraded to a lovely suite thanks to our virtuoso benefits.
Thanks @luxtravgroup !!!

The Italian sun made it very possible for us to pass a late September afternoon quite comfortably by the pool.๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒž

Stay tuned for our subsequent posts on Il Falconiere and other fabled places in the Tuscan Umbrian area!!! ๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽŠโœจโœจโœจ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
